Lonestar Cell MTN, one of four GSM service providers operating in the country, has assured the public of its commitment to working with government in transforming the future of Liberian youth.

The chief executive officer (CEO) of Lonestar Cell MTN, Mr. Tebogo Mogapi, said his company remains a partner to government in the areas of national growth, human resource development and sustainable innovative development, particularly as it relates to the youth development agenda in the country.

He spoke at an event marking the the company’s ‘Can Do Club’ in six universities at the weekend. The program was held at the Monrovia City Hall.

The program was attended by an array of government officials and students of the six universities: University of Liberia, Cuttington University, African Methodist Episcopal Zion University, United Methodist University, Stella Maris Polytechnic and African Methodist Episcopal University.

In remarks, Mr. Mogapi described the project as a “milestone in Lonestar Cell MTN relationship with and commitment to the Liberian nation and people.”

He noted that the greatest wealth and strength of any nation is its youth.

“The quality of its youth determines the kind of future a nation will have. If the energies of our youth can be directed towards self-development with an attitude reflecting zeal, enthusiasm and a desire to build with the right moral values, the nation can rise to untold heights,” he said.

Mr. Mogapi then urged Liberians youth to emulate the good examples of President Sirleaf in aspiring to a progressive and brighter future.

“Therefore, if we must ensure a bright future for Liberia, we first need to strengthen and empower the youths of this country,” the GSM company boss asserted.

Delivering the keynote address at the program was Deputy Finance Minister for Revenue, Dr. James Kollie.

In his address, Dr.  Kollie encouraged Liberian youths to aspire to progress amid the economic hardships this country faces.

He called on youths to use his situation as a case study in developing the right attitude in achieving their respective goals.

“I struggled to achieve a university education; but I knew what I wanted so I put up the right attitude in achieving my goal. I believe in myself ; that’s the only way you can achieve your goals as young people,” Dr. Kollie said.

The Lonestar Cell MTN ‘Can Do Club’ is a non-political, non-religious and a non-profit social club of progressive-thinking Liberian college students who are ready to embrace the challenge to shape the future with their lives, for a better Liberia.
